Grants allocated to community organisations 2021

2 December, 2021

Darran Valley Community Council is pleased to report that following receipt of applications by the closing date the following grant payments have been made to help local organisations:

  1. Fochriw OAP holiday club received £100 towards a coach trip, coffee, tea, milk and rental of premises.
  2. St Mary’s – St Andrew’s Church in Pentwyn received £100 towards church repairs.
  3. Darran Valley History Group received £100 towards researching the rise and demise of religion in the Darran Valley.
  4. Fochriw over 55’s club received £100 towards a trip, afternoon tea and to encourage others to join.
  5. Friends of Fochriw Primary have received £100 towards the purchase of Christmas selection boxes.

In addition to this:

Council allocated a £4000 budget for a school summer scheme, and for the youths.  Caerphilly CBC paid for the summer scheme this year as they had extra funding from Welsh Government – we purchased summer play packs for children costing a total of £2,855.  This means there is £946 left of this budget for an event for the youths in Deri and Fochriw (£482 per village).

Council also allocated £800 to Deri and Fochriw to put on social events to help OAPs recover from the psychological effects of the pandemic.

The wind turbine grant funding is also still open to local organisations – details can be found here Grants
